Annually on Epiphany Day, the 6th January, the parish of Pottenstein in Franconian Switzerland near Bayreuth in Germany celebrates its traditional decree of Eternal Worship. Eternal worship is an ancient tradition in the Catholic Church, which many know as the feast of lights. The streets of the historic old town are then festively decorated, prayer hours are held and over 1000 fires are lit on the surrounding rocks and light processions pass through the villages. Thousands of visitors marvel at the magical backdrop with the imposing mountain fires every year.
