The historic Carnevale di Venezia in Venice, Italy, is next to the Carnaval do Rio in Brazil, the most famous carnival in the world and at the same time one of the largest festivals in Italy. Starting from the Italian princely courts, more and more magnificent and elaborate forms of carnival developed since the late Middle Ages. The festivities last 10 days and begin 2 weeks before Ash Wednesday with numerous events such as parades, masked balls, concerts and parties. Everywhere in the city you can see people dressed up in Venetian costumes and with masks, who also like to be photographed.
