White Turf is the name of a special horse race at the noble meeting point St. Moritz in Switzerland. On several weekends in February, the frozen St. Moritzersee turns into an international hotspot. This is the venue for a horse race on ice invented over 100 years ago – the only one in the world.
While noble thoroughbred horses from all over Europe fight for good placements with international jockeys on the ice, the upscale society meets on the edge of the lake to make horse bets while enjoying champagne, oysters and lobster.
